NWEA has an immediate opening for a Sr. Front-End Developer. This is a 6 month contract position.
Position Summary…
As a Sr. Front End Developer, you will work on specific infrastructure projects to support the corporate website. In this role, you will configure, develop and maintain open source and commercially available CMS packages such as WordPress; develop with JavaScript and its associated code libraries and develop stylistic and responsive front ends with HTML and CSS. We are seeking a self-starter who can manage a rebuild of the site in coordination with the existing team using conventions and technologies already used. There will be opportunity to integrate new technologies or content types within word press as required by the rebuild.
Responsibilities…
- Configure and modify WordPress (and possibly other CMS packages), enabling and disabling features, plugins and theme settings
- Code CSS, HTML modifications as needed to add changes in branding, colors or logos, and allow for compatibility to responsive design standards
- Code in PHP to adjust theme files, widgets or plugins
- Apply JavaScript and AJAX controls where necessary
- Enable CMS best practices to avoid comment spam, trackbacks or known security vulnerabilities
- Ensure that web site integrations, such as links to social media, subscription services and analytic servicers are working and functional
- Provision user accounts to provide access to site editors and other developers
- Provide input to future site development and enhancements
- Communicate to end users and provide technical support as needed
- Track and regularly report on progress of projects, and self-manage all levels of assigned projects
- Uphold the quality of work by assuring that operational documentation is current

Technical Skills Required…
- PHP, CSS/SCSS, HTML
- WordPress core and theme development
- 5 years minimum WordPress experience
- JavaScript and jQuery
- MySQL and manipulating data in database
- Responsive front-end development / Familiar with the Bootstrap grid
- Familiar with CSS preprocessors (Sass, Scss) and understands their benefits and limitations in producing efficient, maintainable code.
- Experience using Git
- Strong understanding of front-end performance and creating sites that make efficient use of resources
- Experience with 3rd Party CRM applications a plus, especially Marketo.
- Development and maintenance of functional requirements documentation
- Familiar with tracking and tagging best practices for SEO, SEM, and campaign tracking
Education and Experience…
- Minimum bachelor’s degree in education, technology or a related field; equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered in lieu of a degree
- Five years of general coding experience with front-end languages
- Five years of experiencing in installing, configuring and managing popular CMS systems (WordPress experience required)
- Three years of coding experience with PHP
