A career librarian, manager, administrator, and author, I share my experiences through training online and face-to-face around the country. I also facilitate successful strategic planning and director searches. I am the author of eight books on leadership and career development. My passion is for helping leaders, teams, and boards with everything from effective operations to communication, leadership, and planning. A Kent State University iSchool graduate (1991), I was selected in 2015 as the school's "Alumnus of the Year: For a Graduate Who Has Made a Significant Contribution to the Profession.”

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

2011 - 2016

As Executive Director, I led and helped to stabilize and grow a regional system that supports libraries in any way needed. We trained, consulted, planned and innovated, so that our libraries could be successful. I worked with a team of five highly energized, talented and dedicated staff.

At a time when our library was facing exciting changes, such as a major renovation and the introduction of innovative new services such as a Welcome Desk and Roving Reference, as Deputy Director I was responsible for the overall excellence of all public services in our 4-branch system.
