A member of the police department of Glendale, Arizona (GPD) with a history in community policing, neighborhood response, and general street patrol, Andre Anderson ultimately became a GPD lieutenant before accepting a post as police chief of Ferguson, Missouri. In the wake of the police shooting of Mike Brown, Jr., the Ferguson Police Department brought Andre Anderson on board as interim police chief.
This position placed him in charge of comprehensive community relations and departmental management from July to December of 2015. His accomplishments during this time include implementing a strategic plan to deal with expected civil unrest and protests in commemoration of the one-year anniversary of the controversial Brown, Jr., grand jury verdict.
For the past two years, Mr. Anderson has commanded the Special Operations Division of the GPD. His duties center on ensuring public safety and security during regional events that include a number of major professional and college athletic competitions.
