Sitting in the Behavioral Health Division of the Multnomah County Health Department, I am responsible for the management of technology used to serve our internal and external healthcare stakeholders. This includes management of our support and development efforts while adhering to regulatory compliance requirements such as HIPAA.

Some of my key responsibilities and wins include:

• Managing ten direct reports whose work spans the gamut from daily user support to business analysis to technical development
• Quickly identified multiple significant inefficiencies in work management practices and put together a plan/roadmap for standardized product management
• Collaborate with compliance personnel on upholding HIPAA/42 CFR Part 2 compliance in our EHR system and reporting initiatives
• As Data Trustee, I am responsible for owning decisions around the strategic use of data, data access, protecting data quality, and enforcing data best practices
• As member of the Health Technology Council, I work with technology leaders throughout the department to help vet and advocate for technology initiatives
• Ensuring my team is effectively using taxpayer funds and is acting as a responsible steward of those funds to achieve measurable outcomes

I'm responsible for the daily operations of the IT department, leading our enterprise applications management team, and managing digital transformation projects that impact every department. This is a role with incredibly diverse responsibilities. In a typical day, my work may include:

• Leading discovery calls on new apps, customizations, and expanded implementations of existing platforms at ePromos

• Driving adoption and consistent use of Product Management methodology for managing enterprise applications

• Leading the completion of technology certification projects around SOC 2, ISO 27001, PCI, and others

• Designing systems integrations and advising on integration best practices

• Negotiating terms with our vendors around software licensing and SOW language for professional services agreements

• Investigating ERP scripting inefficiencies in partnership with our development team to identify and prioritize performance tuning enhancements

• Representing my department in executive committee meetings around digital transformation

• Extensive project and resource management to ensure timely delivery of approved digital transformation projects

Some of my bigger wins include:

• Completely restructured IT department into new divisions, roles, and created paths toward greater professionalization throughout the department

• Created an enterprise applications product management team from the ground up to support ongoing technology needs around ERP, eCommerce, and Data

• Implemented processes company-wide on the ingestion of support and enhancement requests, the collaborative prioritization of enhancements with the business, and the discovery/delivery of those enhancements

• Within a year was able to lower annual department spend by 8% through software, vendor, and staffing efficiencies

Maker Systems provides vCIO, system integration development, enterprise product management, and technical project management services.

• vCIO services include strategic consulting around software selection and roadmapping, infrastructure planning, staffing, identifying and organizing digital transformation initiatives, technical leadership training, and custom software development advisement

• system integration development includes ERP/CRM data migration, ERP integrations with external systems (project management, 3PL, 3PE, PLM, and asset management platforms), and CRM integrations with ERP and/or marketing automation tools

• enterprise product management is the organized process of gathering user feedback on internal technology and using that feedback to select new software, enhance existing software, and support all software the enterprise uses to do work

• technical project management services focus on software development, ERP implementation projects, and project management systems implementations such as Jira

In this role I was responsible for the stability, enhancement, and ongoing maintenance of ERP systems at McKinstry. This included:

• manage a team of 2 functional resources and 4 development resources

• building and managing development sprints

• developing roadmaps in partnership with key business stakeholders on new ERP functionality projects

• leading the tactical and strategic implementation of projects/processes.

• defining acceptance criteria for user stories

As the head of applications and analytics, my teams at Biamp were responsible for providing a stable, highly-available enterprise scale software and analytics environment for our local and international teams. This included managing the existing state of our software architecture, applying formal SDLC pipelines for customizations, and strategic planning around all enterprise applications.

Some of my key responsibilities and wins included:

• managed a team of 5 functional resources and 6 engineering/analytics resources in the development of ERP customizations, data analytics projects, and mobile applications development

• Scrum master and product manager of ERP and CRM systems, sprint building, defining user story requirements, managing Azure DevOps

• led the charge on the sunsetting of poorly architected technical projects, saving the company roughly $250,000 in project costs and IT expenses over a 5 month period

• refined deployment process on ERP and CRM customization deployments to include greater organizational visibility to and more internal ownership of testing protocols

• developed frameworks for the approval or denial of custom development requests for the ERP (Dynamics 2012) and CRM (Dynamics 365)

• deep discovery and documentation of completely undocumented business critical internal processes

• consolidated multiple teams into one cohesive group aligned to similar processes

• took leadership position in developing new incident and case management protocols

In my role as Enterprise Architect at Hoffman I was responsible for the development, implementation, and ongoing adherence to best practices in software selection, development, implementation, and maintenance across the entire enterprise.

Some of my key specific responsibilities and wins included:

• implemented and coached on Agile project management and work management principles for technical projects

• leadership in negotiations for software licensing that directly led to a seven-figure savings in software licensing costs over the 2021 fiscal year

• Building cross-department relationships, being the “translator” between business needs and technical requirements for operations and accounting orgs within Hoffman

• Gathering requirements for and developing solutions to business challenges from both a technical and process-centric standpoint

• Developing and coordinating training on custom solutions

• Leading the development of custom integration solutions using JD Edwards Orchestrator and custom ETL code

• Helping lead the company from a completely self-hosted data infrastructure to a hybrid cloud/on-prem hosted infrastructure to support scalability, reporting/analytics, security, and availability

• Implementing and socializing the use of Jira and Confluence for managing technical projects and project artifacts as well as developing internal knowledgebases

• Leading software selection and implementation of new solutions with 3rd party vendors

• Identifying and eliminating sources of technical debt

In this role, I was responsible for all financial and project management integrations used by Hoffman.

Some of my key responsibilities and wins include:

• Led the complete rewrite of financial and project management integrations from JDE World to JDE EnterpriseOne, then again off our legacy ETL software and into a platform native to our ERP

• Led the development of best practices in data redundancy, management, and security best practices

• As integrations product owner, was one of the main technical implementation resources for ERP migration from JDE World to JDE EnterpriseOne

• Merged user requirements with organizational data/process standards when building integrations

• Developed financial and project management integrations through a legacy ETL platform and with custom code, managing billions of dollars’ worth of financial transactions company-wide

• Built out documentation for integrations including what they are, what they do, when they do it, and what tables/business functions/endpoints are being called for each

• Troubleshot integration issues, which included troubleshooting code as well as user errors
