Work Experience

Charles Russell Speechleys LLP

Shadowing a Senior Partner
|

Apr 2017

I shadowed a Senior Partner in the Family law department for a week, in which I was given responsibility in communicating to clients through drafting emails regarding contentious legal issues, as well as being needed to read through case material to identify relevant information that may support the clients and arrange case documents into the correct order. Through analysing the work of the Senior Partner and witnessing client interaction first-hand, I was able to understand what it means to provide a professional service and what the client wants to achieve.

Camp Bryn Mawr

Camp Counsellor (Tennis Coach)
|

Jun 2019 - Aug 2019

I was chosen to work at an American Summer camp through a rigorous application process. This experience enhanced my ability to perform under pressure. In challenging moments, for example in first aid emergencies, my role as a Camp Counsellor required me to maintain composure and use reason and logic to derive a solution when under pressure. Furthermore, it was necessary for me to be a flexible team player to respond to pressures colleagues were facing and provide appropriate assistance.

Withers LLP

Open Day Participant
|

May 2019 - May 2019

I was chosen to attend the open day following an application process. I had the opportunity to gain an insight into commercial law, specifically mergers and acquisitions, by completing a group task based on a fictional acquisition with help from one of the firms’ leading partners.

Vardags

Open Day Participant
|

Mar 2020

I was chosen to attend the second year open day following an application process. I was able to widen my knowledge of Family law through participating in a fictional dispute resolution meeting with other students and learn more about the basic principles of divorce such as prenuptial agreements, which the firm explained with reference to their success in the case of Radmacher v Granatino.

Bristol University

Open Day Steward
|

Sep 2019 - Current

I was selected to act as an ambassador for the University, answering questions from prospective students with regards to both law and the societies I am involved in. Furthermore, I direct visitors around campus and act as a point of guidance for them. As the role requires me to move venues and assist visitors without prior notice, it is necessary for me to be versatile and able to work in team to ensure open days are a success.
