The Social Health Registry (SHR) is a platform comprised exclusively of socially responsible individuals that subscribe to the theory that personal health and safety cannot be left to chance while living in the age of information. SHR registered users have 24/7 access to their validated STD test results, to encourage open conversations with sexual partners, more frequent STD testing, and a more socially responsible community.

  • Design wireframes for the desktop and mobile application.
  • Participate in weekly calls with developers and engineers during development and implementation.
  • Quality assurance testing.
  • Determine priority and business objectives with the CEO.
  • Define the product vision.

Diamax Information Systems

Diamax is a small digital-design firm headquartered in Vienna, VA. Diamax has a client portfolio of over 20 clients, including associations, research institutions, and non-profit organizations.

  • Actively participate in stakeholder interviews, map business processes, define audiences, analyze usability problems, identify requirements, and generate solution ideas.
  • Synthesize the design through precise wireframe diagrams, personas, user stories, written functional descriptions, sitemaps, creative briefs, and info-graphics.
  • Serve as liaison between the design team and the software development team, ensuring solutions or product features work as specified and appear as designed.
  • Compare solutions implemented for each client to identify opportunities to improve Diamax products and reduce the amount of customization required to complete future solution development projects.

The Brookings Institution

Web and Social Media Coordinator, The Hamilton Project

The Hamilton Project at Brookings is an economic public policy. THP publishes research papers, policy proposals, and infographics focused on topics like infrastructure spending, retirement policy, crime, and more.

  • Oversaw and coordinated all THP web pages, for both the independent THP website, and all THP content on the Brookings website.
  • Managed all social media activity resulting in a 50% growth in the audience.
  • Coordinated a nine-month website redesign project for www.hamiltonproject.org by partnering with a developer/programmer to make final decisions on sitemaps, content taxonomy, and interface design.
  • Organized meetings with stakeholders, gathered feedback and requirements, walked through mock-ups and templates with stakeholders and upper management, and audited existing content.
  • Participated in a promotional video to introduce a new book by Brookings scholar Isabel Sawhill (November 2014).

PBS is a multi-platform, public broadcast organization that has served the public with reliable, trust-worthy content for almost 50 years. After graduating from GMU, I was an intern at PBS and involved in writing and editing projects, curating news and research materials, and making daily updates to the PBS homepage. I also worked closely assisting a team during the redesign of pbs.org.

  • Wrote and edited blurbs for every PBS program to be in compliance with an updated CMS.
  • Coordinated the roll-out of a new CMS with local PBS programs.
  • Curated news and research materials as story ideas for the editorial team.
  • Manually completed daily updates to the PBS homepage displaying a list of the most popular site content.

This 14-week course taught me the essential principles, concepts, and skills of UX design. The requirement to complete the course was a final project either redesigning an online or mobile experience, or creating a new one. The final deliverables for this project included KPIs, interviews, personas, user flow maps, card sorting, a sitemap, several hand sketches, and digital wireframes.

This 10-week course (every Saturday, from 10AM-5PM) immersed me in the basic application of of HTML5, CSS, and Javascript. As a final project, I designed and built a sample website from scratch, implementing what I learned.
