Managed shifts including people of various ages and backgrounds by setting and encouraging others to reach the common goal of fresh, fast, and accurate customer service. This included managing people, places, and things (stock, cash flow, promotions, etc.) to creating shift plans based on sales projections, peak hours, and many other factors. I often managed shifts as the manager in charge overall and also managed specific stations.
Additionally, inventory, food cost, and waste management was primarily my responsibility. My methods, organization, and dedication (previously acquired years prior) resulted in bringing the store's food cost from worst in the region to one of the best in a short time frame.
The most important part of the job was ensuring customer satisfaction and a well managed team creates a positive work environment to focus on the same goal. I like to think this is my best quality, given the work environment of fast food, adding some pep talk can go a long way. This work environment requires patience and understanding of others, combined with my friendliness, made me a favorite among the regular customers.
This trait also came in handy for training. Another responsibility of management is to ensure quality training to crew and especially crew trainers as they are on the path to management. Each person learns differently so connecting with them makes for a greater chance of success and understanding of their needs.
Frequently assisted disabled elderly neighbor as needed.
Duties included: housekeeping, pet care, shopping, tech support.
Performed basic cashier duties: manage cash register, lottery, alcohol and tobacco sales, stock and clean as needed, customer service and promotions.
Between the years of 2003 and 2008 I was employed at various McDonald's locations in West Virginia, both as an employee for an extended period and as a temporary fill-in for stores nearby when shorthanded. I started as a crew member at the age of 16 and excelled to become a manager at 18.
Crew duties: typical cashier responsibilities, customer service, teamwork, sales, and utilizing the foundations of customer satisfaction and retention to meet the company's Golden Standard for customer service.
Crew Trainer duties: master the procedures and safety guidelines, teach others the Golden Standards by setting a good example, and encourage others to do their best. Trainers are often given seniority over their stations to influence leadership qualities, so it is up to them to show their potential leadership qualities.
Management duties: promotion of the importance of workplace safety and team work, manage the training and empowerment of others, set a good example, provide encouragement and influence team building and relationships, and most importantly, manage people, places, and things to ensure employees and customers are satisfied.
During my time of studies I gained knowledge of various topics that surround business and economics, while including a few courses directed towards my love for cooking. These topics include: business management and administration, accounting, entrepreneurship, human resources and gender studies, marketing, finance, psychology and behavior, customer relations and pubic administration.
I also gained many skills along the way: patience and understanding of others, analytical and research skills, an improvement in communication and interpretation of others, greater understanding of economic principles and morals, and the importance of lifelong learning and development of character.
