As a working team leader, this position works with HIM Management to ensure that all edits, merges and overwrites are completed within a timely manner. The Lead MPI staff member trains others involved with the process. Looks for trends in errors and reinforce the PCH MPI policy and procedure amongst the system to ensure the quality of our Master Patient Index database.

  • Coordinate orientation, training and coaching of all MPI staff. Review daily MPI edit reports for errors and tracking of staff to see if there are trends. Ensure that the MPI procedures are being followed in a consistent manner. Goal is to reduce errors made and achieve optimal quality of our MPI database in order to reduce all risks to our patients.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to MPI. Act as a liaison with IT and Registration staff working on reducing the MPI errors.
  • Participate in updating/maintaining departmental procedures to support and promote MPI work processes within HIM and Registration. Complete all job related responsibilities of the Master Patient Specialist.
  • Perform miscellaneous job related duties as requested.
