Wash dishes, glassware, flatware, pots, or pans, using dishwashers or by hand. Maintain kitchen work areas, equipment, or utensils in clean and orderly condition. Place clean dishes, utensils, or cooking equipment in storage areas. Store supplies or goods in kitchens or storage areas. Sort and remove trash, placing it in designated pickup areas. On occasion, preparing bread and distributing to a designated location for waiters/waitresses to serve to customers.
Hosting: Prepare dining room for patrons by cleaning and clothing tables; setting decorations, condiments, candles, napkins, service plates, and utensils. Answer the phone and answer questions concerning the menu and restaurant. Greet and seat guests, present menus to guests, inform them of specials and sides. Take guest information and quote wait times to guests accurately when tables are not immediately available. Interact with guests as they arrive and as they leave the restaurant to ensure a positive dining experience. Maintain menu presentation by keeping menus clean.
Bussing: Maintain table setting by removing courses as completed; replenishing utensils; refilling water glasses; being alert to patron spills or other special needs. Close the dining facility by cleaning chairs and tables; sweeping and/or vacuuming floors; removing trash and recyclables from the facility.
Bar-backing: Backing up bartenders by maintaining stocks, changing kegs, collecting empty glasses, polishing clean glasses, maintaining the premises clean and properly organized, ensuring there is plenty of clean glassware and re-stocking ice. Ensure guests are properly greeted when bartenders are busy or unavailable. Help bartenders check on orders, prepare beverages, prepare desserts, and retrieve food.
