Jennifer Hilliard

Integral member of numerous teams to ensure all kids receive academics, instruction, and advocacy. These teams include Neuro-Oncology, Sickle Cell, Bone Marrow Transplant, Oncology, and the Wellness Team. I leveraged my experience to maximize relationships with departmental leaders and team members for effective collaboration on hospital-wide initiatives. Additionally, I was chosen to plan and host the 2018 Joint National Conference AECMN/APHOES. I am a proud member of the Hospital Educator and Academic Liason Association.

• Work with children grades kindergarten through Twelfth grade bedside and small group instruction.
• Coordinated with students’ home schools to provide appropriate curriculum and workload.
• Helped create curriculums as independent studies for high school aged children.
• Facilitated conversation about homebound services, 504 Plans and IEPs.
• Collaborated with multidisciplinary teams including Neuro-Oncology, Sickle Cell, The Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders, Wellness Team and Pulmonary to ensure each child’s educational and social/emotional needs are met.

During my time, I trained and piloted the FAST Reading Program. I was also TEACCH Trained and was a Co-Teacher of the Take Flight Initial Training.

• Learning Disabilities Teacher for grades Kindergarten – First and Third – Fifth.
• Active Participant of the Problem Solving/Intervention Team to provide interventions to students struggling with attention, academics, and behavior.
• Developed Individualized Education Plans for each child on my case study in collaboration with parents, students, and teachers.

• Continuously planned and modified basic skills lesson that met the diversity of needs including Autism Spectrum Disorder, Emotional Impairments, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Cognitive Impairments, Muscular Dystrophy, and Severe Learning Disabilities.
• Developed Individualized Education Plans for each child on my case study.
• Participated in the Child Study Team to provide interventions to students who are struggling with behavior and academics.

• Co-taught math, reading, and writing to provide academic support for all students and implemented intervention plans for students in the process of RTI (Response to Intervention)
• Developed Individualized Education Plans for each child on my case study in collaboration with parents, students, and teachers.
• Piloted the FAST reading program for the district after being trained at the Denver Academy.
• Served on the Preschool Committee to re-open the program in our district.

• Co-Taught all core classes to provide academic support for students.
• Planned lessons with the general education teacher that allowed maximum achievement for students as well as collaborated with students, parents, teachers and instructional assistants regarding the Individualized Education Plan.

• Created a modified Language Arts curriculum for 7th grade students.
• Provided academic support and modifications to the general education curriculum for students with ADHD, Autism, and Learning Disabilities.
• Homebound teacher and advocacy services to students who had been expelled.
• Developed Individualized Education Plans for each child on my case study in collaboration with parents, students, and teachers
