Immediate is a special interest digital content company and large consumer publisher, home to titles including Radio Times, Gardener’s World and Top Gear Magazine. With over 50 websites spread across numerous content management systems and technology stacks, a decision was made in 2015 that it was necessary to consolidate these, not least for the sake of the internal users, many of which did not have publishing tools that served their needs.
As the first product manager on the project, I led a team identifying initial requirements and shaping the substantial roadmap out the first year of work on a new CMS. We conducted substantial user research and strategy workshops with internal stakeholders across four offices, and, as our development team grew, continued to validate this across the business. Since July 2016, with the project underway, I have shifted focus to setting up a new team building Identity and user management infrastructure for the business that will drive the company’s efforts in personalisation and ecommerce.
Product owner of a Scrum team focused on developing madeformums.com, the UK’s fastest growing parenting advice community and baby product review website. A strong focus on digital advertising and its many challenges, as well as a program to diversify the revenue stream through affiliates and third-party ecommerce, led me to win an internal award as one of Immediate’s digital staff of the year in 2015.
Led a project to rebuild Lonely Planet’s community platform, Thorn Tree. With an inhouse design team and remote development team, we built forum software from the ground up for the distinct needs of our existing community of 2m registered users, as well as internal stakeholders.
