In late 2018 IBM acquired my employer Oniqua (a small, 40 person SaaS company headquartered in Brisbane), and as part of this move, chose to transition my role into IBM Global Business Services, covering APAC, Africa and the Middle East.
In my years with IBM and Oniqua combined, I've worked and travelled for over 30 clients including BHP, Rio Tinto, ExxonMobil in dozens of countries, and learned (and continue to learn) from clients' unique challenges, clients themselves, and my diversely skilled colleagues. Primarily my role involves:
Aesop is a luxury skincare manufacturer and retailer born in Melbourne, which grew from operating in 6 to 12 global markets in the period I was the company's sole demand planner. Without established tools and processes in place, the role required initiative in introducing these (sales data collection, demand planning and S&OP), and reaching out to global managers to adopt new means of managing inventory. I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Aesop, and left only after being approached by Oniqua for a rare opportunity. My role involved, in summary:
ActewAGL is Canberra's distributor (and a retailer) of electricity, treatment, gas and water utilities. I began this newly created role being responsible for optimising inventory during a company restructure and supervised an inventory analyst
Vnet Solutions offers a Walmart-style Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) solution to clients in the home entertainment industry. Working for Vnet's client Paramount Pictures from their APAC office in Sydney, I was responsible for performing managing inventory for Paramount's DVD and Blu-Ray products at over 1,600 retail stores across Australia.
An International Study Program, where I elected units in Japanese Language, Law and Culture and lived with a (non-English speaking) Japanese family through the university's homestay program.
