PassWhiz began as a simple solution to a common problem at my high school - paper hall passes. Paper hall passes were easy to lose, forge, and they took up a lot of both teacher and student time. I originally set out to build a digital solution for only my high school but received so much interest from schools all over the United States that PassWhiz quickly grew to be the leading digital hall pass system in secondary schools. With thousands of students using the suite of applications daily on an array of different platforms PassWhiz is only growing larger every year. As CEO I wear a wide range of hats from development, to sales, marketing, accounting, and everything in between.
At Launch Fishers, I work on a broad range of projects including anything from event planning, customer management, digital design, copywriting, and hardware management to social media promotion. This job has offered me a unique look inside not only a successful coworking space but the many different sized companies housed within.
At Codelicous, I work with students from ages 8 to 80 who want to learn how to code. I teach everything from Scratch, to HTML/CSS, to Javascript, and beyond. In addition to coding we cover internet safety and a variety of other digital tools that enable the students to excel no matter what project they are working on. When I'm not teaching students through Codelicous, I am working on curriculum development. I work closely with the founders of Codelicous to ensure that the curriculum meets all of their goals as a company, while keeping students engaged and excited. The curriculum development and teaching comes together once a week where I co-teach a classroom of 2-15 individuals about coding, procedural thinking, internet safety, computer programming history, and more.
The Edupreneur is a podcast exploring entrepreneurship and innovation in education. Founded by both me and Pete Freeman, a Lily Scholar and current student at Notre Dame, we release episodes weekly interviewing current edupreneurs about a variety of topics. In addition to co-hosting the podcast I manage our website, uploading episodes and distribution to iTunes and Stitcher, along with editing episodes as necessary. The Edupreneur is currently in Season 2 with a focus on digital learning and we will soon start to release episodes for Season 3.
