The Back-End Developer is a key member of the Engineering team. This role is a prime creator of First Boulevard’s back-end financial product infrastructure.

• Incumbent banks require on average an additional $245 in deposit minimums for Black Americans to avoid fees.
• Black families are being underserved and overcharged by incumbent banks.

What you will do at First Boulevard:

• Reviews the requirements and identifies concerns prior to writing code.
• Provides estimates and design spec feedback.
• Writes clear, concise, and well-documented code.
• Develops solutions that encompass front-end, application layer, and back-end databases.
• Collaborates with other developers to enhance the user experience.
• Works closely with Product Managers to understand use cases and user needs.
• Develops responsive products which render seamlessly across multiple devices.
• Produces technical design documentation.

Requirements:

• 2-5 years of release management and/or project management experience.
• Experience with building scripts and using scripting tools.
• 2-5 years experience with AWS code build and code deploy pipeline.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Experience with Agile software development lifecycle.
• Experience with Git or similar source code repository.
• Knowledge in code branching strategies.
• Strong knowledge of data structures and system design.
• Experience building solutions on AWS services (Lambda, Codepipeline, etc.).
• Expertise Java or other JVM-based languages.
• Able to create reliable and performant code.
• Experience working in an agile development environment (Agile, Scrum, or Kanban preferred).
• Proactive and self-motivated.
• Strong independent worker and team contributor.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• BS Computer Science background preferred.
• Startup experience preferred.

Bonus:

• Fintech experience.
• DevOps experience.
• Worked with Clojure in past projects.
