60,000 businesses and millions of people use 1Password to protect their most important information. We’re a kind, curious, and customer-focused team on a mission to build the world's most-loved password manager and give people more control over their data.

The content team shapes the voice of 1Password and helps us build on our reputation as the world’s most trusted password manager. Our work touches almost every part of 1Password’s presence, from determining the messaging around new releases to writing educational content that helps people protect their privacy.

We’re looking for a content writer with a strong background in marketing to write and produce content for web pages, articles, and sales materials. The subject matter is often technical so experience writing about software or technology is preferred.

The role within the team is flexible, with the opportunity to hone your skills and eventually specialize in one area.

    What we're looking for:

    • 2+ years experience as a content writer, with some time spent on a marketing team
    • Strong writing and self-editing skills (we’ll need to see writing samples)
    • You’ve written for a software or technology company before
    • An interest in and basic understanding of privacy and security
    • You’re self-motivated and can work independently, but know when to ask for help
    • You’re proactive, and skilled at managing your own time
    • You use 1Password already (or another password manager)

What you can expect in month 1:

    • Familiarize yourself with 1Password: learn about our product and brand, read existing content, and review the style guide
    • Plug any knowledge gaps you have around privacy and security
    • Write articles and blog posts for 1Password and other websites

What you can expect by month 3:

    • Begin producing a broader range of content, including core web pages, campaign landing pages, social media posts, and print materials
    • Work with people in other departments to help them shape content about the features they’re working on
    • Edit and proofread content written by other writers

What you can expect by month 6:

    • Contribute to the broader content strategy
    • Help us make sure we communicate our brand consistently in all outward communications
    • Suggest new ways in which we can use content to achieve our objectives

"We’re a friendly, close-knit and enthusiastic team of writers and marketers, where you’ll get plenty of opportunities to find mentorship, inspiration, and ultimately your own niche." - Lily Bradic, Content Lead

60,000 businesses and millions of people use 1Password to protect their most important information. We’re a kind, curious, and customer-focused team on a mission to build the world's most-loved password manager and give people more control over their data.

We approach all aspects of 1Password with a design-first approach. Our team encompasses UI, UX, web, illustration, print, and motion graphics designers – all working together to give 1Password customers the best possible experience.

We are looking for an experienced individual to craft engaging and well constructed copy for use in our applications, and other customer facing products and services. You will have the opportunity to work with designers to craft copy for new features from concept through to development, as well as apply your knowledge and expertise to existing elements of 1Password.

1Password’s design is already award winning but, with your help, we can make it even better.

    What we're looking for:

    • At least a year of experience writing UX copy and other content for an app or product. We will need to see a portfolio of examples.
    • Passion for helping customers. While this isn’t something quantifiable, you should be able to tell us why you love using copy to help customers better understand a feature.
    • Strong communication skills – you’re writing should get customers to engage with and completely understand what you’re trying to say.
    • The ability to adapt your writing to new audiences, styles and tone.A knack for learning things on your own and quickly adapting to new environments. Since 1Password is remote, it’s important to be independent in your research, but also have the humility to ask for help when you aren’t sure about something.
    • Knowledge of Markdown and basic HTML/CSS.

What you can expect in your first month:

    • Read the 1Password style guide to learn how we communicate to our customers.
    • Work with the design team to identify tasks that you can take on to build your skills.
    • Refine existing content so it’s consistent with our style guide.

What you can expect by month 3:

    • Start to take on multiple concurrent tasks across our web app, client apps and documentation – editing and improving existing content as well as writing new content.
    • Suggest improvements in writing styles, work methodology or tools we use.
    • Begin to work outside of the design team specifically to support other internal projects

What you can expect by month 6:

    • By this point you will have found your ‘niche’ and will be working in specific areas across 1Password, taking ownership for multiple tasks and projects.
    • You will take part in regular calls and reviews, offering and receiving feedback on written style and content.

“We have a wide range of skills represented here, and that makes for a culture of personal growth through feedback and mentoring, support and critique. Our design has won awards and we have our designers to thank for that - excellence in design is one of the defining characteristics of 1Password. You should also prepare yourself for bad jokes too though 😃”

60,000 businesses and millions of people use 1Password to protect their most important information. We’re a kind, curious, and customer-focused team on a mission to build the world's most-loved password manager and give people more control over their data.

The Core team here at 1Password is building libraries to share common, security-critical code across our macOS, iOS, Android, and Windows apps, as well as our browser extensions and web app. Our goal is to implement a complete 1Password client backend that will power the next decade of development on the world’s favorite password manager.

We are looking for an individual to join our team and completely own our continuous integration, build, and deployment system. With over 20 automated CI jobs executing on every commit running on autoscaling AWS instances for Linux and Windows, a fleet of colocated macOS machines, simulated environments for Android and iOS, and virtualized environments for our browser extension this isn’t some cookie cutter setup we’re running here.

We also have new challenges coming down the road like ARM and Apple Silicon. This entire multi-platform environment will be under your care – system and software updates as well as scaling will all be within your purview. If you’re looking for a role where you’ll get to work and play with the latest technologies across the board, then we have the perfect playground for you.

Your scripting skills will be an absolute requirement as you work closely with our platform teams to set up our automated build and testing testing environments for macOS, iOS, Android, Windows, Linux, and browser extensions. Lastly, you will also be responsible for building, signing, and deploying the release versions of 1Password that we send out to our millions of customers.

    What we're looking for:

    • Experience with GitLab’s CI system, and familiarity designing and maintaining complex build and release pipelines.
    • Experience using GitLab Runner on macOS, Docker, and Windows.
    • Familiarity with Rust, makefiles, GitLab CI pipelines, and scripting languages.
    • Experience with maintaining and deploying updated toolchains across a variety of GitLab runners.
    • Basic understanding of different platform’s (macOS, Linux, and Windows) packaging schemes. IE, RPMs and Debs on Linux, packages on macOS, etc.
    • Basic understanding of iOS and Android packaging and App Store/Play Store deployment.
    • An understanding of code signing and validation.
    • The ability to work closely with our quality assurance team to ensure they have access to the builds they need to complete their testing.

What you can expect in month 1:

    • Getting to understand 1Password’s build and release requirements for new Core based apps, including the new 1Password for Linux application.
    • Working with other team members to identify where improvements can be made to build environments.
    • Starting to work on making small changes to smooth out bumps in our CI/CD process.

What you can expect in month 3:

    • Making plans to improve our existing CI/CD setup.
    • Establishing best practices for deploying our builds to our customers.
    • Identifying and improving performance issues in our current configuration.
    • Working with the team to ensure our in-app updates are working properly.
    • Identifying opportunities for automation within our process.

What you can expect in month 6:

    • By now you’ll be completely comfortable deploying updates to our build machines.
    • Continuing to find ways to scale our environments and optimize the efficiency of our pipelines.
    • Cutting production and pre-release builds without a second thought.
    • Employing your army of custom scripts to perform complex tasks at the push of a button.

    • The thought of tracking minute details doesn’t make you cringe and you’re able to organize yourself and your tasks so customers don’t get missed or dropped.
    • Feedback, learning, and growing are some of your favorite words.
    • It’s a bonus if you have personal experience with 1Password or another password manager. While not required, it will allow you to quickly gain confidence in this role.

    • Can onboard a medium-sized customer through multiple levels of the defined Customer Success process, using your relationship with our sales and development teams to educate, provide feedback, and discover opportunities to upsell or expand.

    • Build and maintain a healthy database of customers for whom you are the Success Manager.

What you can expect by month 6:

    • Have developed your best personal approach and rhythm, analyzed the Customer Success processes to maximize your customer engagement, and begun collaborating with cross-functional peers in internal teams.
    • Have a steady book of customers with whom you’ve learned needs, built rapport, and put success plans in place, influencing the broader Customer Success metrics and processes.

We approach all aspects of 1Password with a design-first approach. Our team is comprised of designers comprising UI, UX, web, illustration, print, and motion graphics - all working together to make 1Password the best it can be.

We are looking for an experienced individual to design experiences within 1Password spanning operating systems and devices. You will have the opportunity to design new features from concept through to development, as well as add your knowledge and expertise to existing elements of 1Password.

1Password has won awards for its design, and with your help, we will make it even better.

    What we're looking for:

    • Experience designing UX concepts for applications and the web and devices, comfortable providing wireframes, user-flows and process flows.
    • Portfolio of recent project work, with demonstrable UX/UI experience in your previous projects.
    • Solid understanding of designing for responsive devices
    • Happy to work with versioning tools like Abstract, Git and present work within Zeplin and export assets for production.
    • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development process.
    • Excellent visual design skills with sensitivity to user-system interaction.
    • Ability to solve problems creatively and effectively.
    • Up-to-date with the latest trends, techniques and technologies, but ability to design around the trends instead of following.

What you can expect in your first month:

    • Review the tools and platforms that 1Password uses, and familiarize yourself with the style and format of our created content.
    • Take part in regular calls to discuss workflows and review designs amongst peers.
    • Begin to take on design issues that will help you to learn and grow within the 1Password style.
    • Speak with our customers to understand more about those that use 1Password.

What you can expect by month 3:

    • Act as a design resource to others in the organization, taking briefs from department heads and creating elements as needed.
    • Start to take ownership of certain elements within 1Password, such as user experience flows within our applications and site, and suggest changes or updates.

What you can expect by month 6:

    • Operate as a key part of the design and web team, taking ownership of areas that interest you and pushing their design forward to create a better product.
    • Offer constructive feedback to peers on the team, helping others to grow and develop alongside you.

1Password is being shared with new people every day, and we’re adding people to our team to keep up. We’re looking for a DevOps Engineer on our cloud infrastructure team to help manage that growth and keep things working smoothly behind the scenes.

As a member of the infrastructure team, you’ll be at the heart of nearly every application, tool, and service we use to build a great experience for our customers and our team. You’ll ensure uptime is consistent and security measures are upheld across the board, and you’ll develop and support new tools as we adopt them.

    What you'll do:

    • Work with a small team of infrastructure specialists and collaborate with our software developers to build, deploy, secure, manage, and optimize highly-available, fault-tolerant, and horizontally scalable systems in AWS and GCP.
    • Improve continuous integration and delivery processes to uphold rigid infrastructure standards.
    • Work autonomously for the most part. You’ll be part of a team who’s there to help you learn, but we also trust you to get work done when and where you can be productive, which isn't always in the same room as the rest of the team.
    • Be part of our on-call rotation to make sure any unexpected issues that arise are resolved as quickly as possible.
    • Design and build systems that work well and fail gracefully.
    • Write scripts that other engineers can easily read and understand using Python, Bash, Ruby, etc.
    • Work directly with our infrastructure systems and tools daily. We currently use AWS, GCP, Linux (Ubuntu/Debian), Terraform, Ansible, Git/Gitlab/Github, MySQL/PostgreSQL, Jenkins, Kubernetes, Elastic Stack, Datadog, PagerDuty, Go, Python, and Okta.

    What you have

    • Lots of experience with AWS and/or GCP. You’re comfortable configuring, running, and managing services in either, or even both ecosystems, and you know your way around Compute, Database, Storage, DNS, etc.
    • A relationship with Linux systems and networking – you’ll be working with them daily.
    • Experience with automation and configuration management tools like Terraform, Jenkins/GitLab CI/CD, Puppet, Chef, Ansible, or an equivalent.
    • A background building continuous deployment and testing the tools you set up.
    • Knowledge of security practices, protocols, methodologies, procedures, and compliance (we’re SOC compliant). Security is our full-time job.
    • Experience working with databases. We use MySQL/PostgreSQL.
    • You live in the Greater Toronto Area - our DevOps team is based in Toronto.

    You might also have:

    • NoSQL and ElasticSearch experience.
    • Personal experience with 1Password.
