- We are looking for a highly-skilled Social Media Copywriter to serve as a front-line creative for acquisition, engagement, fundraising and brand-focused social marketing content on Teach For America social channels.
- In this role, your goal is to help amplify the TFA brand. engage, inform, and inspire qualified prospective corps members to apply for and join the Teach For America Corps, as well as motivate TFA Alumni to deepen their relationship with the organization and commitment to the mission on social.
- You will work closely with a Designer and the Editorial Team to create social-first social content that stands out. As a digital native, you are adept at driving people to action with incisive copy and know just the right way to deploy an emoji. You are deeply knowledgeable of social best practices, are an expert at using analytics to surface audience insights and inform content creation, and have great instincts about how TFA can use its voice during high-stakes moments in culture.
- You will be a member of our Content Team, which includes other writers, marketers and designers, reporting to the Senior Managing Director, Content Strategy and Head of Social Media. The ideal candidate will have the ability to thrive in a cross-disciplinary environment and to shepherd projects from ideas to completion. You must be able to work independently and be able to advocate for and present your point of view.
THE ROLE
- Works with the Designer and Managing Director, Content, to create relevant, original, high-quality content for all social channels and social ads, effectively implementing and managing social editorial calendar and publishing schedule for all social media platforms. Supports accounts with third-party content curation and engagement. (50%)
- Directly engages with consumers on TFA channels/content/ads (15%)
- Works with partner teams to do social listening for trending content, conversations, topics, and news to identify strategic opportunities and flag potential issues (15%)
- Reports out on KPIs and provides content insights (10%)
- Participates in meetings, projects, and activities relating to the larger work of growing TFA’s brand (10%)
THE MUST-HAVES
- Bachelor’s degree communication, journalism, marketing or related field
- 6+ years of writing for social at an agency, digital publication, non-profit, or in a complex corporate context
- Excellent attention to detail
- Continually raises the bar on creativity, writing fresh copy that connects with the desired audience and drives action
- Understands and consistently reflects the brand voice to drive brand consistency across all social channels
- Highly creative and imaginative; stays up to date with latest in industry trends and channel updates
- Demonstrated ability to drive projects forward autonomously from inception to completion
- Organizational and time-management skills; thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with a high-volume workload often requiring short turnaround times
- Knowledge of political affairs; can craft strong and appropriate copy for national events/crisis comms moments

TFA’s National Marketing and One Day Studio team informs, inspires, engages and activates audiences to co-create the future of education all kids deserve. The One Day Studio team produces authentic, differentiated & diverse editorial and creative on behalf of TFA and with like-minded partners that sparks curiosity and conversation and moves the next generation of locally-rooted and nationally connected leaders to take action in the fight for educational equity. The Marketing team is charged with gaining audience insights, creating targeted content and executing channel strategies, campaigns and tactics that engage audiences throughout their lifecycle with TFA.
