Project Manager, Health Equity Now – (2100004H)

Job Description

Health equity is a human right. The current health pandemic and its disproportionate toll on minority, low-income, and historically underserved Americans shines a troubling light on historic, systemic inequities in American health care. It is time for health equity now. Health Equity Now (HEN) is a new platform designed to deliver on the Health Equity Bill of Rights. Rather than a set of defined products and services to be delivered on a predetermined timeline (waterfall approach), HEN uses a framework based on the principles of agility, iteration and human centered design to develop and test products and services that will address system inequities and ensure the Bill of Rights.

The American Diabetes Association (ADA) is seeking a Project Manager to join our Health Equity Now team within our Program Management Office. This is not a traditional project management role because it is centered around a new platform, a movement and different approach to delivering ADA programs. While it includes some common project management responsibilities such as overall responsibility for managing scope, cost, schedule, project teams, deliverables, stakeholders and vendors, it also requires someone who can operate with agility, is comfortable with iteration, and is familiar with human centered design principles. This position is an opportunity to be part of a movement, to be part of designing the approach and process for fulfilling in the vision of a future without unjust disparities.

Reporting to the Program Director, this role has responsibility to deliver on outcomes to support renewal and expansion of contracts. As a core member of the HEN delivery team, you will have an opportunity to grow and be challenged in new and unexpected ways as a project manager and a member of the ADA team.

The Project Manager will be responsible for multiple projects that vary in size and scope including managing internal and complex cross-functional teams and external relationships. The Project Manager also plays a key role in the facilitation, support, training, designing and creating deliverables and management of project improvement activities across the Association.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead cross-functional teams to deliver projects on time and within budget; responsible for managing quality delivery
  • Align resources to accomplish project tasks and key milestones with clear accountability for project deliverables
  • Direct the work of an internal and external project team with overall responsibility for managing scope, cost, schedule, staffing and stakeholders, vendors, and contractual deliverables.
  • Accountable for project deliverables, overall project success, and revenue goals associated with contract renewals to expand ADA’s offerings.
  • Facilitate and lead relationships with internal and external stakeholders, volunteers, customers, and vendors, including best-in-class communication across all relationships.
  • Maintain process documentation and identifies opportunities for continuous improvement for all organization initiatives.
  • Facilitate quality management and change management techniques for project management.
  • Effectively estimate and plan project resources, schedules, and budgets.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Project Management Professional (PMP)® certification and/or 5-8 years of project management experience

  • Budget management experience a plus
