Help lead the Corporate Functions UX team at Liberty Mutual

Inside Corporate Functions, the UX team supports the entire organization (legal, talent, finance, administration, and technology) to create and deliver world-class products and tools for Liberty Mutual employees.
What’s the role?
We need a creative, experienced, hands-on UX design director to join our growing and collaborative UX team. As a design director, you’ll be a manager and a strategic contributor who oversees the holistic user experience for Liberty Mutual employees. You’ll be successful in this role if you are a creative UX strategist or visual designer with experience managing a UX team.
This can be a fully remote position and we are open to applicants from anywhere in the US. Most of the team is located on the East Coast so a willingness to work ET business hours is preferred.

What will you do?
UX & Visual Design
As an experienced designer, you will work with your team to:
- Ensure that the look and feel, content, and interaction details of your team’s deliverables delight our users with reassuring, consistent patterns and best-in-class interaction designs
- Steer team strategy to deliver against business objectives and align to our design system and brand guidelines
- Request, study, and compile user insights and analytics to guide design decisions with data
- Deliver UX assets that support and communicate designs to partners and stakeholders, including: service design blueprints, product roadmaps, personas and journey maps, wireframes, flow diagrams, sitemaps, prototypes, UI designs, and more
UX Evangelization
As a UX leader, you will:
- Form cross-team relationships to build common UX strategies and inspire the craft of user-centric design across the entire organization
- Proactively identify employee experiences that would benefit from UX strategy and engagement and work to optimize how non-UX teams leverage UX practices
- Define the UX vision, ensure consistency, and evolve design system standards
- Work closely with product development teams to create roadmaps and deliver product iterations
Talent Development
As a manager, you will:
- Elevate the health, growth, and development of the Corporate Functions UX team
- Share your passion for design excellence through thoughtful creative direction, direct contribution, and leading by example
- Lead your team through the whole product experience lifecycle, from problem identification, to ideation, implementation of strategy, and design updates
Hire product design talent and actively engage in recruiting processes
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
- 10+ years of professional experience leading and/or designing digital products and processes
- Expertise in using methodologies such as Design Thinking, Lean UX, & Agile development
- Proven experience:
- Guiding product teams and other designers through the UX process
- Developing product designers’ skills and careers
- Motivating and inspiring people to do their best work
- Recruiting and building product design teams
- Working with and following a design system
- Effective collaboration among cross-functional agile teams
