We are a multi-disciplinary team of user experience designers, industrial designers, visual designers, user researchers, instructional designers, and software developers. We collaborate closely with each other, engineering, and product management to create highly usable, intuitive and beautiful products that make a true impact to millions of people around the globe.

Process:
- In concert with cross-functional teams, synthesize user research and strategy to develop a design vision that creates compelling product experiences.
- Assist with executing on defined project milestones.
- Able to pivot to competing priorities and project needs.
- Develop app workflows and prototypes (from rough comps thru refined specifications) to communicate app functionality to stakeholders.
- Work closely with our User Research and Human Factors teams to build prototypes for user testing, then iterate based on the findings.
- Present design proposals with confidence to inform and gain alignment from design team.
- Collaborate with development engineers to ensure designs are implemented as intended across iOS, Android, web apps, and other devices.
- Forge ahead despite ambiguity or incomplete information.
Product:
- Focus on producing best-in-class product design that delights and engages our users while they manage their diabetes.
- Advocate for our users: people with diabetes and their support community.
- Participate in early stage design activities, such as creating target users and experience models.
- Develop design facilitation skills: crafting workshops, managing flow and achievements, being able to synthesize findings into an actionable strategy.
- Ensure that delivery to Dev is organized, reviewed for quality, and delivered on time with participation from Design Managers.
- Leverage and contribute to our Design System to maintain consistency across our growing product portfolio.
Requirements:
- Familiarity with modern design and prototyping tools; Sketch, Abstract, InVision, Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, etc.
- Knowledge of designing for mobile apps, Design Systems and experience using Material Design or iOS HIG.
- Familiar with the challenges of building products that serve iOS and Android platforms while speaking one, holistic design language.
- Knowledge of Agile methodologies.
Nice to Have:
- Experience in healthcare technology or consumer product design.
- Experience thinking about or designing for accessibility using WCAG 2.0 or 2.1
- Knowledge in the formal elements of UI design: color, layout, balance, proportion, rhythm, typography, iconography, emphasis, and unity.
- Knowledge of programming languages like HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Git, Swift.
- Knowledge of animating using After Effects/Lottie, Haiku.
Travel Required:
- Up to 25% of time.
- After the marketing team returns from work from home restrictions, we may require travel to San Diego or Portland office at least 4 times a year.
- Other research or continuing education travel (domestic or international) may be required up to 8 times a year.
Functional Description
Generally focused on the look, feel, operation, user experience and functionality of a commercial website. Creates internal/external company web pages including graphics, animation and functionality. Designs web page layout and online content, user interface graphics, icons, color schemes, content and infrastructure for new product release and new webhosted product offering. Performs development and maintenance programming for web pages and web applications. Performs web usability testing. Partners with Web Administrator to implement pages or applications into production. Assures web server and site technical performance. Develops, assesses and communicates website usage and security policies and standards. Provides technical assistance to Site Administrators. May assist in the planning of overall company strategy involving Internet usage. May make hardware and/or software purchasing recommendations or decisions regarding web development. May perform overall administration of sites at a companywide level. Requires knowledge of commercial internet/web tools and protocols.

Workplace Type
- The Workplace Type for this role is Flex. Based on the nature of your position you will be working onsite approximately 2-3 days per week from collaborative space and hoteling desks at our Dexcom sites. You will need to be located within commuting distance (typically 75 miles/120km) of your assigned Dexcom site.
