  • This position is based in a home office anywhere in the U.S. and is available immediately.
  • Travel up to 40% is required, dependent on current state and federal guidelines.

What You’ll Do

  • As the Director, Academic Diagnostics, you will play a leading role in ensuring TNTP has access to a consistent, centralized service and team of staff members with a deep commitment to providing high-quality and timely support to design and execute all academic diagnostic projects such that schools, districts, and states have accurate information about their students’ experiences.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Supporting TNTP Regional Consulting Partners to engage clients in conversations around their diagnostic research questions and then developing budgets and proposals that accurately capture the design and scale of individual diagnostic projects.
  • Creating and managing the Academic Diagnostic work plans for individual projects as well as the overall team diagnostic calendar to ensure available capacity is in place to meet proposed timelines on each project.
  • Collaborating with the Academic Diagnostics Analytics Director as they manage the capacity and quality of the analysis and reporting work from two Analysts and a Data Manager on the Academic Diagnostics team and as you both work to ensure progress towards ambitious team goals designed to broaden the reach of TNTP Academic Diagnostics.
  • Managing a TNTP Senior Manager and Manager who have responsibilities related to organizing all logistics for the site visits and supporting all TNTP Observer and Assignment rater capacity and norming.
  • Facilitating weekly check-ins with Consulting Division Project Teams engaged in an active academic diagnostic.
  • Becoming certified on TNTP’s Observation and Assignment Review Protocols for ELA and Math in order to support Consulting Division Project Teams to engage with clients around their vision for excellent instruction, to support the drafting of recommendations following an academic diagnostic, and to, as needed, participate as a certified reviewer on site to conduct observations and/or rate submitted assignments.
  • Contributing to conversations around the ongoing evolution of TNTP Academic Protocols as the organization continues to refine tools for new content areas and works to ensure our tools capture the experiences of all students.
  • Cultivating and managing relationships with internal TNTP Regional Consulting Partners.
  • Bringing excellent management skills, including experience effectively managing diverse teams, building inclusive team culture and growing and developing staff to be successful in their work and career.

Qualifications

  • Ability to establish systems, develop project plans, and support implementation across workstreams.
  • Experience managing deadlines, adapting with changing priorities, and taking on multiple projects at once.
  • Excellent forecasting, strategic planning, communication, and writing skills.
  • The ability to critically assess challenges and identify effective solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve results in an ambiguous, fast-paced environment of rapidly changing priorities and tight deadlines.
  • Experience managing teams to tackle complex projects.
  • Understanding of what effective teaching looks like when observing teachers in practice.
  • A deep commitment to the importance of effective instruction and inclusive practices.
  • Ability to connect qualitative and quantitative data to real world applications in schools.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, PPT and Excel, required. Experience with additional software, such as Salesforce, SharePoint, Workday, Survey Monkey, or Asana preferred.

What We OfferTNTP offers a competitive salary commensurate with experience in a similar position with the potential for an annual performance-based bonus. The salary range for this position is $88,000 – $132,000. New hires are typically brought into the organization at a salary between the range minimum and the salary range midpoint depending on qualifications, internal equity, and the budgeted amount for the role We offer a comprehensive benefits plan, covering the majority of the employee premium for the base medical plan and subsidizing the majority of costs for a spouse/domestic partner and children. Other benefits include dental and vision plans, disability, life insurance, parenting benefits, flexible spending account options, generous vacation time, commuter benefits, referral bonuses, professional development, and a 403(b) plan with employer matching. We also offer an inclusive environment where staff are encouraged to bring their whole selves to work every day. TNTP may offer a relocation stipend to defray the cost of moving for this role, if applicable.
