Job Description:

The work location for this exciting opportunity is virtual. The selected candidate will work 100% remotely from home and can be located anywhere in the United States and will need to work an East Coast schedule.

Position Summary:Reporting to the Senior Director, Communications and Strategic Initiatives, the Intranet Operations Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the enterprise-wide intranet and the management of one Senior Web Designer. This person will work closely with the manager, Internal Communications to insure consistent messaging across all platforms. She/he is the lead technical liaison between NHQ Communications and Information Technology (IT) on all intranet functionalities, redesign efforts and all other intranet projects.

This person manages the relationship between all site contributors across the organization and the IT Web Development team. The successful candidate is the chief point of contact internally with all business units across the organization for strategic management and organization of all intranet content, site issues and site projects.

The successful candidate will have excellent web management technical skills as well as strong communication skills. She/he will work independently and must make daily judgements that have highly visible results in the Red Cross, with limited input from higher levels of management.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Senior Director, Communications and Strategic Initiatives, to develop policies and procedures for the integration of new intranet/Internet applications.
  • Make front page and editorial decisions in conjunction with senior director and internal communications manager, insuring consistent corporate messaging.
  • Post new and update existing content to the intranet.
  • Advise on organization for optimal internal visibility.
  • Work with leadership and management at all levels of the Red Cross to assure that the enterprise-wide intranet is used effectively and efficiently.
  • Act as the senior advisor on intranet technical issues and the primary departmental liaison with Information Technology, including:
  • Serve as the senior technical representative in negotiations and problem-solving on intranet activities with IT.
  • Serve as the senior advisor on all technical matters related to the intranet, with the goal of assuring that Internet technology is quickly and effectively applied to meet Red Cross internal communication needs.
  • Propose refinements to Red Cross intranet to meet user needs.
  • Qualified candidates must be authorized to work in the United States. The American Red Cross does not sponsor employment visas.

Qualifications:

  • 10 plus years of experience; 3-5 plus years in a supervisory role.
  • Familiarity with American Red Cross strongly desired but not necessary.
  • Strong communication/writing skills.
  • Must be able to edit basic HTML code.
  • Demonstrates proficiency working in website analytics
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience managing websites, particularly with improving usability, navigation and reader experience.
  • Must possess strong editorial judgement.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office products: Word, Outlook, etc.

Technical Skill Requirements:This position requires extensive knowledge of content management systems, an awareness of emerging online technologies and the ability to edit photos and produce online content.

  • 5 plus years Content Management System experience
  • 5 plus years Graphic User Interface/Web design experience using various web and design tools including HTML editors, Photoshop and Adobe Acrobat products.
  • Working knowledge of JavaScript, DHTML, XML/XSL, CSS – Cascading Style Sheets

For those candidates located in Colorado, the salary range for this position is: $90K-$100K+/- annual salary. We do not offer bonus pay for this role. Note that the American Red Cross sets salary ranges aligned to a specific geographic location in which the job or employee resides.
