
Operations Manager at MROSupply
Location: Anywhere in the world; 100% Remote
Background:
MROsupply.com is the e-commerce extension of Mechanical Drives and Belting, established in 1898 in Los Angeles. MRO supply provides convenient 24X7 online access to over a million unique products through our global network of 200+ suppliers and 100+ warehouse facilities.
We are looking for an experienced Operations Manager to join the corporate team. This is a remote position and can be located anywhere in the world, subject to the ability to work on Pacific Time Zone business hours. Fluency in both English is a must.
Essential Functions:
- Manage assigned part of our global distribution, supplier, and warehousing network; ensure fulfilment of B2B orders placed through our ecommerce platform.
- Collaborate with suppliers, manufacturing plants and associated internal business units on materials planning, inventory levels, logistics, sourcing and reorder strategies.
- Cultivate and maintain vendor relationships; manage and streamline business processes related to operations management including shipping, customs, and last-mile delivery.
- Optimize operational process efficiency, focusing on cost, time and quality parameters.
- Analyze supply-demand cycle. Assist in proposals evaluations, and vendor agreements. Plan and execute onboarding of new approved suppliers for new/existing product lines.
- Manage inventory turns and fulfilment costs. Track key metrics like order picking time, order defect rate, cost per order etc. Recommend and implement process improvements.
- Minimize operational downtime. Lead volume planning and contingency planning efforts.
- Implement appropriate forecasting processes for supply chain, logistics and warehouse operations. Optimize operations initiatives through vendor managed/ shared inventories.
- Coordinate with other departments , specifically Marketing and Finance, on planning and execution of purchase, procurement and other inventory management functions.
- Coordinate with vendors on packaging specs and tests; track quality issues to resolution.
- Liaison with vendors on necessary regulatory/ quality assurance documentation on compliancy info, test results, feasibility confirmation etc. Maintain record repository on regulatory documents/certification.
- Support audit and inspections. Perform sundry other duties as assigned.
Experience And Qualifications:Required:
5+ years of experience as an operations manager or equivalent with extensive exposure in purchasing/ sourcing in the B2B ecommerce space.
Assured availability in PST business hours. Fluency in both English.
Proven project and program management experience in a multi-vendor environment, ideally involving overseas suppliers. Strong systems and process skills.
Strong domain knowledge of logistics, warehousing, and operations management. Extensive expertise in sourcing, procurement, demand & supply planning.
Previous experience in managing several departments in complex organizations. Comfortable in leading cross-functional teams of various sizes; open to challenges and opportunities.
Strong process orientation, people management skills, and high emotional intelligence.
Excellent business communication, negotiation acumen, and interpersonal skills.
High motivation and ethical standards. Ability to multi-task and prioritize across projects. Extremely organized with great attention to detail.
Academic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Business Administration, Supply Chain, or equivalent. May be offset by substantial relevant experience in comparable role.
Preferred:
MBA with requisite experience preferred.
Six Sigma green/black belt certification a definite plus.
APICS Certified Supply Chain Professional, or APICS CSCP certification an advantage.
Russian language proficiency would be a plus.
