Role Summary:
As a Senior UX/UI (User Interface/User Experience) Designer, you will turn our software into easy-to-use products for our clients. The Senior UI/UX Designer’s responsibilities include gathering user requirements, designing graphic elements, and building navigation components. To be successful in this role, you should have experience with design software and wireframe tools. If you also have a portfolio of professional design projects that includes work with web/mobile applications, we’d like to meet you. Ultimately, you’ll create both functional and appealing features that address our clients’ needs and help us grow our customer base.
What will you be engaged in day-to-day?
- Collaborating with project management, content strategy, and developers to define and implement user-centric, innovative solution.
- Developing and applying creative designs, ensuring that they meet brand, usability, and accessibility standards.
- Creating wireframes, storyboards, user flows, process flows, and sitemaps to effectively communicate interaction and design ideas.
- Providing specialized expertise in the design and layout of graphical user interfaces, particularly, screen layouts and functionality for client-server applications.
- Concepting and conducting studies, testing and evaluation of prototypes and existing websites for functionality, ease of use, efficiency, and accuracy. This includes overseeing participant recruitment, user and task analysis, data collection and analysis, and assessing user surveys.
- Designing web pages and developing web-based technical solutions that engage users and meet business requirements.
- Developing and applying creative designs, ensuring that content meets brand standards and targets the intended audience.
- Utilizing experience with user-centered design and validating design effectiveness through quantitative and qualitative methods.
- Utilizing the US Web Design System (USWDS) or pattern libraries.·
- Keeping abreast of Federal usability requirements and industry best trends including Nielsen Norman.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Requirements
What qualifications will help you succeed?
- A B.F.A. or related degree in interface design, interaction design, information design, art, or a related field of study is required, plus a minimum of 8+ years of related experience, or equivalent education or experience.
- Experience in the government contracting field focused web UI/UX design.
- Section 508: Strong experience designing for accessibility and Section 508 compliance.
- Front-End Development: Proficiency with HTML and CSS. Javascript, common frameworks, and development tools like NPM, SASS, , Gulp, and GitHub.
- Visual Design: A strong portfolio highlighting keen visual design principles, typography, and UI designs patterns. Mastery in applying that expertise on the web, mobile devices, email newsletters, and social media. Experience designing for responsive websites is required.
- UX Deliverables: Experience contributing to the creation of wide range of UX deliverables such as persona, site architectures, wireframes, prototypes, interaction flows, or other documentation for developers to follow.
- Prototyping: Solid experience developing low-fidelity and high-fidelity wireframes and prototypes using tools such as Axure, Balsamiq, and Invision.
- Project Research: Experience with the UX process and project research deliverables including heuristic analysis, gap analyses, analytics audits, stakeholder interviews, and business and functional requirements workshops. Familiarity with usability testing and providing recommendations.
- Leadership: Has supervised at least 2 or more direct reports. Possesses the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, is self-motivated, and exhibits a strong desire to grow in the position
- Client Management: Ability to clearly articulate digital strategy to internal stakeholders.
- Collaboration: Work with cross-discipline team members including content strategy, web development, data analytics, and digital project management to design and develop digital strategies and solutions.
- Analytics: Experience with common analytics software (Google Analytics, WebTrends) and their application in designing a user’s experience.
- Communication: Solid written and verbal communication skills.
- Content Management Systems (CMS): Experience with CMSs is a plus.
- Content Strategy: Experience doing UX and design on large content-heavy websites including labeling and metadata. Familiarity with information architecture and card-sorting tools (Treejack and Optimal Sort) a plus.
