Atlas Obscura is seeking a VP of Product Management to join our growing team. For more than 8 million monthly visitors, atlasobscura.com is already a beloved source of unexpected stories, amazing experiences, and undiscovered places both near and far; the VP will establish the strategies and set the product vision that will write Atlas Obscura’s next chapter. Near-term projects include launching our first mobile app, enhancing our ecommerce capabilities, evolving the brand, and more.

This role will report to the COO and manage our six-person, Agile product team. Note, Atlas Obscura is a remote-first company, so you can work from anywhere within the continental United States.

Responsibilities

• Set the product vision, communicate it across the organization, drive its execution, and own its success;
• Work closely with the Editorial, Audience, Brand Partnerships, and Experiences teams to set cross-company product management processes and prioritize products based on business and customer needs;
• Conduct frequent customer research and evangelize the lessons learned;
• Empower the Product Team to work at their highest level;
• Closely track results, analyze losses, and celebrate wins.

Requirements

• At least 10 years experience as a Product Manager leading Agile teams and a successful record managing other product managers;
• A demonstrated ability to build successful and visionary products;
• Expertise at conducting customer interviews and supporting user-centered design;
• Customer obsession—our users love us, and you should love them back;
• Strong communication and data skills;
• Experience working in travel, media, and/or ecommerce;
• A sense of wonder and a passion for Atlas Obscura’s mission.
